Recieve txts without a phone signal
At http://fishtext.com you can rent a number that you can send and recieve txts from and to.
I've been looking for something like this. It means people can txt me while I'm on a boat and I can see that message over satellite internet.

I Just wanted to add that Gotreception.com (http://www.gotreception.com) is a great resource for finding out where reception problems are most likely to occur
I move around the world working offshore in the Oil industry. Although I'm no longer a penniless student I choose to live full time in a campervan. I do this both out of choice and strategy to addressing the problem of expensive housing here in the UK. Here I research topics that can aide a person in remaining free, particular from geography. As such topics may include: Non-geographical income (Jobs, Business and Investing), Staying in touch by phone, internet and post, relationships with a nomadic lifestyle and other such challenges.
Audience: Modern Gypsy. Backpacker. Perpetual Traveler. Ex-pat. World Citizen. Couch surfer.
- that's who this blog is for.

gotreception seems to be US and canada only. Useful for the US nomad.
Sadly I can't say I've ever been to that place yet.
